Mini Split Maintenance
MIni Split systems do require routine maintenance. The most important service you can perform on these units is to clean the filters. Keeping these systems clean is the most important part. Every year you can have a technician do a basic cleaning of the air handler coil, blower wheel and drain line to help keep the system clean and running efficiently for many years to come.

What is a mini split system?
A mini‑split includes two components: an indoor air handler and an outdoor compressor/condenser. They’re connected by a refrigerant lines and communicaiton wires, and no ductwork is required. You can pair one outdoor unit with multiple indoor units for customized, zoned heating and cooling. Most commonly used for Granny flats, adu's, guest rooms.
How does a mini-split actually work inside my home?
The indoor unit blows conditioned (cooled or heated) air directly into the room. Each indoor unit can be controlled independently, giving you zone-level temperature control—perfect for rooms that need different settings.
Are mini-splits energy-efficient compared to central AC?
Yes—mini‑splits can reduce energy waste by up to 30%, especially because there's no ductwork losing air. They also use inverter-driven compressors that adjust their speed—delivering exact cooling needs without cycling on and off like traditional systems.
Can mini-splits heat as well as cool?
Absolutely. Most mini‑split systems are heat pumps that provide both cooling and heating. Many work efficiently in cold temperatures, even as low as 0 °F (and some down to −13 °F), making them great year-round solutions.
Is a mini-split a good option for my home layout?
They’re the perfect fit for homes without ductwork, attics, garages, or room additions. They work just as well in open-concept homes or for just cooling one space independently from the rest of the house.
